The masterpiece of clockmaker David Brown, this clock is in astounding original condition. Of unusual form, it retains its finials, mirror, stamped pendulum, and eglomisé panels representing the New Republic. The works are also unusual and feature a thirty-six-hour movement.

The clock was originally sold in 1938 and put on loan to the Metropolitan Museum of Art until it recently sold through the Sack Brokering program for hundreds of times its original cost.
