This pair of elegant eagle wall brackets are illustrative of high style American taste after the Revolution, and are a testament to fashion and patriotism at the time of the new Republic. Stylistically, the carving is sophisticated and consistently balanced by attention to detail and proportion.

Very few American wall brackets with eagle supports are known to survive. Though discovered in London, the wood analysis has determined that this pair are made of North American eastern white pine,
providing the basis for their
attribution to the United States.
