Highlights: Hyde Park Antiques Celebrates 40 Years by Staff from Antiques & Fine Art magazine

Reflecting recently on his long career, gallery owner Bernard Karr had this to say, "Like most collectors, I had set out simply to furnish my own home with beautiful objects. But the more I looked and learned, the more I wanted to buy." Now one of the most respected specialists in eighteenth century furniture, paintings, and decorative arts, and the go-to guy for interior designers, Hyde Park Antique's owner celebrates forty years in the business with the publication of Classic English Design and Antiques: Period Styles and Furniture from the Hyde Park Antiques Collection (Rizzoli, $60). Written by fine and decorative arts expert Emily Eerdmans, this richly illustrated volume features more than 150 objects from Karr's collection and tells the story of English furniture from 1700 to 1830. To celebrate this double milestone, Mario Buatta, Ellie Cullman, and Charlotte Moss will co-host a reception on November 8, 2006 at the gallery.
