Very rare and possibly unique diminutive elliptical Hepplewhite carved and inlaid mahogany fold over console or tea table, having notch carved top edge above a fixed undercut top, above a conforming figured mahogany veneered frame with string inlaid detail, above four square tapering legs with bookend inlays in the stiles and string inlaid edges, the two central legs having shaped, pierced brackets.
Newport, Rhode Island or Charlestown, Massachusetts, circa 1795.
Original structural condition and mellow old finish. 36" wide, 15" deep, 28-3/4" high
