Antique Angora Oushak, Turkey, late nineteenth century - An allover diamond lattice of serrated leaes and rosettes sprawls across the pale cognac ground of this lively antique Oushak. Radial clusters of flowerheads fill the diamonds. A simple palmette vinescroll border on deep terracotta frames the whole design nicely picking up the color of the rosettes and flowerheads in the field. The lovely coloration of the carpet is maximized by the lustrous silky angora pile.
