This form of Rhode Island andirons are traditionally topped with a sphere but instead these have very unusual gadrooned Baroque urns with flame finials and matching flame log stops. In Kauffman and Bowers, 'Early American Andirons' (Page 36) are the more common ball tops, on page 38 are andirons from the James Getty House in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia with very similar Baroque urn finials.
