Circa 1898. A German gilt and painted hanging cupboard given as a wedding present to Princess Pauline von Wurttemburg and Prince Friederich zu Wied in 1898. The serpentine shaped panel doors are decorated with cavorting amorini and are surrounded by elaborately carved scroll-work. The doors open to reveal a silk embroidered panel with a monogram set in cartouche. This cupboard is presented with a hand written poem also given on the wedding day and the original wedding announcement.
