Once exhibited at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Rare large size: 26-1/2 inches wide by 21-1/2 inches high with no restorations. Signed by Clement Drew (active 1836-1873). A Boston painter known for small New England coastal scenes, often with ships in rough seas. His work appears in many museums (over 40 works in Peabody-Essex Museum alone).See Robinson and Dow, The Sailing Ships at the Shelburne Museum, 59, among others.
