Tall Case Cherry Clock, circa 1790-1795, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. 7'7' H x 22' W x 15' D; cherry and pine with mahogany carved elements. Painted iron dial with brass, iron and steel works signed George Striepy. One can only describe the form, balance and proportions of the case as the pinnacle of a style made famous in the Philadelphia area from 1780 to 1800. The design and carvings on the hood of the case are extraordinary in their execution and styling along with being historically significant and reflective of the exuberance and flair of the young Republic.
