A Fine And Massive Fine German Wheel-Lock Puffer, Saxon, Circa 1580 #612 The swamped three-stage barrel with deeply cut chevron decoration and engraved breech section, flat lock with gilded wheel-cover, fruitwood full stock profusely inlaid with engraved staghorn interlaced scrollwork, bearing ball-flowers, and inhabited by staghorn panels engraved with grotesque masks all between staghorn borders and with mirror designs of flowers and foliage the lock plate retaining virtually all of its original blackened finish. Roundel engraved with a further grotesque mask. Iron trigger guard and original horn-tipped ramrod. Provenance: The Saxon Electoral Armouries at Dresden
