From the Saxe-Coburg collection. The moulded cornice is carved throughout within winged cherubs and is supported on finely detailed Corinthian columns and surmounted by a domed red silk canopy. The headboard and baseboard are profusely carved with coats of arms, cherubs and garlands divided by caryatid capitals. This unique bed is an outstanding piece of furniture in both quality and provenance. The royal insignia embroidered on the crimson silk drapes features a crowned initial about 1841. Circa 1840.
