Retaining original paint, this chair by W. MacBride is an excellent example of the American Windsor Chair form. Made in New York City c. 1785-1810, the arm supports and legs show superior drama and balance. The medial and lateral stretchers receive just as much attention as the other turnings. The seat has a nice depression behind the pommel for comfort. The crest rail is of oak, the spindles hickory, the arm supports and legs maple, and the seat pine.

The paint history shows a gray base, Windsor green, and older black paint.

Condition:Excellent.

Dimensions: OH 36", SH 18½", SW 17¼", SD 17"
