Bench Table with rectangular top of two boards braced by battens and attached to base by wooden rods slipped through holes in the bench sides allowing top to swing up and down, thick pine boards make up top and base, Chair Tables were made throughout the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries for country settings and they were designed as space savers since they could be folded up and put out of the way, this is an unusually large example, first half of the 19th century, probably New England, old refinish, in very good condition, seats up to ten people. Height 30", Width 43-1/2, Length 81".
