William Louis Carrigan, A.N.A. (1868–1939) Summer Hills (Berkshire, CT) Oil on canvas, 40 x 54 inches Signed lower left
Born in San Francisco, William Carrigan (1868–1939) spent most of his career in Falls Village, Connecticut, where his teacher and friend Emil Carlsen (1853–1932), spent summers. While he worked seriously at his painting, private income allowed him to be more casual in the commercial aspect of his art. One-man exhibitions at Feragil Gallery in New York and Vose Gallery in Boston attest to how leading dealers viewed his work. We are pleased to represent his estate and can offer a variety of his paintings.
