Philadelphia Shell Carved Side Chair, in walnut, circa 1765. This chair retains a fine old mellow surface, beautiful acanthus carved knees and returns (all original), ball and claw feet, shell in apron, shell in crest, and a very rare feature of opposing tassels and beautifully executed carved pierced splat and fluted styles.
