Pagliani was active between 1768 to 1775 as a silversmith for the Regia Zecca del Regno di Sardegna (the Royal Mint of the Kingdom of Sardinia) in Cagliari. At the time, Cagliari was inextricable linked, economically, politically and stylistically, to Piedmont, which was ruled by the house of Savoy.
