Original Gilding fir wood (cirmolo) and orginal mirror glass are topped by a lattice work cresting of exceptionally fine carving size. The typically Venetian framing element of the mirror has burnished gilding punctuated by cartouche shaped reserves containing floral and foliate motifs on a grainy gilded base. The excited design of the finely carved cimasa, which incorporates lattice work, C-scrolls, a female mask, floral and foliate motifs and strapwork, recalls the designs of Jean I Berain (1637-1711), who became the architecte dessinateur de la Chambre et du Cabinet du Roi.
