|Paris. Parquetry, oak. Orginal gilt bronze mounts and original marble top. Stamped: L. DE LAITRE Maitre ebenist in 1738
Louis de Laitre furnished the most fashionable Parisian dealers. His powerfully designed, mainly bois de violette chest of drawers, for which he was best known, is typified by the design of this commode with its three-drawer, oxbow front, richly ornamented with harmonious rocaille bronze dore mounts.
