Eighteenth century. Original lacquered wood, bronze handels, and marble top. This extremely fine two-drawer (sans traverse) Genoese commode is based, like most Genoese furniture, on the best Parisian designs of the period, but with the addition of the fanciful Italian lacquer work. This piece with its fine gilt bronze mountings with their original finish and its graceful shape is a superlative example of an Italian chest of drawers.
