A rare English mid 19th century ormolu mounted malachite veneered mantel clock of great quality, signed Phillips Brothers, 31 Cockspur Street, London and numbered 1230. The clock, having a case with superbly matched veneers and original ormolu mounts, including Eagle attacking viper, also has finely made 8 day chain fusee movement with screwed pillars, small 3 inch dial and half second pendulum and has almost certainly been designed & manufactured entirely by Phillips Brothers, who exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851.
