Redware Sugar Bowl
Rare and important redware covered sugar bowl. Top with beaded spool-form finial supported by scrolls, base with applied and stamped stylized flowers and vines and applied shaped handles. Surface covered with manganese slip. Proof condition. Upper Salford Township, Montgomery County, PA. Circa 1830. Dimensions: H: 6 1/2" by W: 5 1/2" Attributed to John Nase. Full family provenance available. Related examples in Philadelphia Art Museum, Mercer Museum and Brooklyn Museum.
