A rare suvival of the Federal period, this extraordinary mahogany sewing box is inlaid in maple, ebony, and mahohany, beautifully veneered, and supported by ceramic melon-shaped feet. The fabric covered top echoed that shape. Possibly, Rhode Island, early 19th century. 11" diameter; 6" high.
