A mahogany tray-top tea table
Charleston, South Carolina, circa 1740-1760

The table's single board top is fitted with an applied tray molding with notched corners surmounted to a conforming frame in the Chinese taste with a shaped bulging skirt. The table stands on cabriole legs having acanthus-carved knees ending in ball and claw feet.

Primary wood: Mahogany

Secondary woods: Bald cypress, white pine and white cedar--all by microanalysis performed perfomred by Donna Christnensen of Cwiii,
