| This model depicts in beautiful detail this 74-gun ship, built by Adam and Barnard and launched at Deptford in 1785. Commissioned in 1790, MAJESTIC in 1794 was present at the Glorious 1st June and together with Daedalus and Incendiary sank le Suffren off Brest in 1796. Alone, she captured el Bolador in 1797 and took part in the Battle of the Nile of 1798. Solid hull construction of boxwood, planked-over above the waterline with yellow cedar; shows a segment of copper sheathing at her waterline. Model is authentically painted with ocher gunport bands, black thick wales and topsides, with dark red interior bulwarks. It shows all appropriate deck gear and armament as well as wonderfully detailed stern and quarter galleries, beakhead rails and figurehead. Masts and spars are of limewood and include furled sails. Model carries three ship's boats while two others are shown in the water, and has numerous hand- fashioned and -painted figures. She is thoroughly rigged with fine twisted threads and painted wire of various diameters. The vessel is presented at anchor in a relatively calm sea. The custom fitted display case is solid mahogany with inlaid satinwood crossbanding, glazed cover trimmed in brass and two hand lettered gold leaf name plaques. In addition there is an optional matching display cabinet/base, priced separately at $2,500.
