Circa 1870 carved walking cane showing two green spotted snakes rising from the base of the cane intertwining until they meet the tails of two green lizards. Two pairs of green frogs sit on the upper section of the staff, which terminates in a suppressed ball pommel. The carving is in deep relief, almost fully three dimensional, and showing 'platform ears' on which the frogs and lizards sit. The background of the cane's shaft is paint decorated to imitate tiger maple and has a metal cap covering the tip.
