This finely proportioned grandfather clock features vibrantly figured mahogany veneers and a terrific dial decorated with a riverside view of a fisherman before a cottage and arched stone bridge. The case, which retains the paper label of Aaron Willard, exhibits many characteristics associated with the cabinetwork of his son Henry Willard [1802-1887]. His cases typically have clean, unadorned lines the emulate the emerging Regency style of the period. The distinctive circular holes in a diamond patter at the sides of the hood and die stamped production numbers of #83 on various components of the case are clear indications of his work.
