Simon Willard & Son 'Alarum Time-Pieces'
Catalog#: 6th Anniversary
Category: Clocks
SubType: Clocks
Origin: America-USA
Era: 19th Century
We are proud to offer each of these examples from this extraordinary reunion. Illustrated here are two exceptional Willard lighthouse clocks, Roxbury, Massachusetts, circa 1823-25. Although the options chosen for these two clocks were quite different, the cabinetmaker produced the cases in close sequence, if not consecutively. This is evidenced by the nearly identical veneers, each cut from the same choice mahogany flitch.

The example at the right is a previously uncatalogued discovery. The example at the left is illustrated in 'American Antiques From Israel Sack Collection', vol. IV, pg. 1098, and Magazine Antiques, October 1966, pg. 474. Provenance includes, the Baum Estate, Livermoore Falls, Maine, Israel Sack Inc. and the Stanley Paul Sax Collection.
