A very fine Hepplewhite gilt and inlaid looking glass, New York City, circa 1795.

The urn finial with blossoms and wheat stalks is framed by a molded and carved swan's neck pediment, terminating in floral rosettes. The mahogany veneered pediment is inlaid with an oval panel with stylized conch shell above line inlaid panels. The original mirror glass is framed by gilt moldings and a line inlaid panel all surmounted by gilt carved floral drops. The mirror base is embellished with a heavily scrolled panel and ears.
