This exceptional looking glass has a scroll top with gilded phoenix bird, rosettes, swags, labeled on verso 'John Elliott' of Philadelphia. There is a similar one owned by the Winterthur Museum and pictured in Downs plate 255. The phoenix and rosettes are restored.
