Attributed to the cabinet shop of Simeon Pomeroy. Made in Amherst-Northampton, MA, area. Cherry, pine: secondary. Excellent condition, one replaced side molding, replaced brass except for escutcheons, retains a historic finish. This high chest exhibits many similar features to other known Pomeroy pieces. The closed bonnet with the carved center section, the drawer conformation and the proportions of the case and the high peaked knees on the gracefully formed cabriole legs are some similar features also found on the signed Pomeroy piece owned by Historic Deerfield.
