New England, probably Massachusetts. Pine, circa 1830. The vigorous and bold decoration is reminiscent of the brush strokes seen on painted tin ware. The interior of the box is lined with the newspapers The Massachusetts Spy and The Worcester County Republican. Wd. 24-1/2 in. Ht. 12-1/4 in. Dp. 12-1/2 in.
