History:
The Vandekar family opened their business in Amsterdam more than 100 years ago. In 1916, the family moved the gallery to London. After the World War II, Earle Vandekar joined his father and the firm, then named Joseph & Earle Vandekar experienced a dramatic growth to become one of the world’s leading galleries. The gallery became well known for carrying high-quality, 18th and 19th-century European and Chinese Export ceramics and other decorative arts. In 1982, Earle’s son, Paul, opened a gallery on New York’s East side where he continued his family’s tradition. The firm is now located in Westchester, New York.

But this gallery is not remaining in the past. Using the technology of the Internet, it raced with the rest of the world into the 21st century. In October 2000, it launched its interactive website http://www.vandekar.com. There, people from around the world have been able to view available merchandise, ask questions and read articles about decorative art.
