Jam Hook
A pair of Jam Hooks, also known as a chimney hook or a chimney bow, this very rare pair of cast brass hooks is for securing fire tools (shovel and tongs) in an upright position against the fireplace jam. It is a more elaborate variation of the usual in a 3/4 circle design with a central attaching bracket and with a finial at each end, English, circa 1780-1800, 3-3/4" W. X 5" D. X 2-1/2" H.

Hessian Soldier Andirons
Original cast iron andirons in the form of Hessian Soldiers The best-known pattern of early 19th century cast andirons is that of Hessian Soldiers. It is believed that they were inspired by the dislike of the mercenary troops brought here by the British in the American Revolution. Hence, they were being burned in effigy.
